Cheers to friendship

People are always about "friendship offers no good, don't eat at a friend's or doze for a minute, she'll steal your glory". Aren't we the friends? We are all nasty then. What Afmag and Investigative Discovery will cause ehn. If you are jealous of your friend or wish her bad, you're in a sect of your own and need deliverance fast. I know a silly babe that was not only having something with her bestie's husband, she had the nerves to take pictures and make a video with him. (My dear sister, what are you using the Holy Ghost fire for? It's not for decoration o). Lol! Only God can save her from the miserable bed she is laying. They were never friends. It's friends like this that fill us with paranoia. You sef, what type of friends do you have? Don't you know the person you call friend? I wonder why we tag acquaintances, class mates, colleagues and church members "friends". Friendship can not be learnt in school, if you've not learnt it, you've learnt nothing.

I had always been my bestie and I don't think anyone ever considered me her bff. I have good friends even though we don't discuss personal/relationship ish, I know those of them that would be there for me if I need them. I hope they know i'm that way too. Many times I felt left out but then I thought it wasn't enough reason to be so upset so I let it pass. What would I have said sef? When there are more than two friends in a circle, it's that way. I have "friends" that call only when they need my help but there's hardly anyone available to do me a favour. I have those that would spoil their kind acts with hypocrisy. All of these made me "hold my side", one man mopol which could be a good thing if one intends to be self-centred. When I was going to NLS Kano, I made up my mind not to make friends or keep in touch with anyone I met there. I was upset with some friends and refused to speak with them. Sometimes, I would struggle to say hello but the bitterness was still there. I refused to talk about it but I would think about their "sins" and justify the grudges I was keeping. That's when I asked myself WWJD? It certainly wasn't worth losing friends or going to hell for. The truth is that everyone would hurt one, at one point or the other. You just have to find the ones worth "suffering" for. Please ditch toxic friends (and don't bring toxins to anyone's lives). Remember one loyal friend is worth more than a thousand (disloyal) relatives. Anyway, family isn't necessarily related by blood but by loyalty.

Are you a real friend? When people think of you do they feel they can pour their heart out to you in their most vulnerable state and know you'll be a shoulder to lean on? Or do they feel like they have to look like they "have it together?" Be the friend you wish you have. I'm sorry if you're going through stuff and you've not had a sincere shoulder to lean on or a pure heart to pray with you. I'm sorry if you feel lost and alone. I'm sorry if I've been too absolved in myself to notice. I love you and I wish you all the happiness in the world.

*Ish = Issue
 Bff = Best friends forever
 NLS = Nigerian Law School
 WWJD = What will Jesus do?

Amen!

  2. Great Piece as usual. No one can be an island. We all need true friends in our path to success. There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Thats exactly the kind of friends we need. We also have to be true friends to others, not fair weather friends for personal gains. He that needs a friend should show himself friendly. Selah.

  6. I wouldn't say that I have lost friends like Bolaji, the tides of life has just moved us farther apart in our quest for living better lives. But there are certain decisions I've made in the past relating to my friendship with particularly two of my friends that I regret though I've done everything humanly possible to right my wrong and I'm still friends with both of them.

I refuse to be biased and judgemental. I look at issues from both sides of the coin, form my conclusions and allow you do same. Hopefully we can put ourselves straight in love.
