A little piƱa colanda, chapman or wine won't kill. Don't the medical people recommend a little red wine often? If you want to be judgemental, you should always make your chapman, cake and food at home or be sure that alcohol wasn't used. There are many other verses that okay moderate alcohol. I'm not a drunk. I also don't think drinking is a sin. In my opinion, it's getting tipsy/drunk, losing control of one's self, and the addiction to it that's sin. Just like the addiction to one's kids or spouse, idolatry, is sin.
I can imagine some people shaking their heads. I'm sorry but we can't always have the same conclusions. Please do comment, i'll love to know what you think. Don't put anyone down while at it. Thanks for reading. Xo, Anuoluwapo
Moderation is d key word here. Drinking is def not a sin,its when it is abused that it becomes a sin. Am sure this post is gonna draw a lot ta different opinions though.
ReplyDeleteYou commented even before I shared the post, thank you.
DeleteI'm surprised no one has had a different position, maybe they are waiting to tell me in person
The. Word og God gives light and understanding to the simple. Now, when Iwas growing up, drinking was taught to be sinful. And then you grow up and realize that it was all a mis-understanding of the actual mysteries in the Word of God. At different times in the Bible was "drunkard" mentioned in the light of sin. Like you said Anu, it is when it becomes addictive that it is a sin. But also, whatever will make you brother to Stumble, desist from it.

DeleteIts so funny that on that same sunday over the phone, my boyfriend and I argued for over 30mins, he maintains same position as you and succeeded in turning my biases around. Surprising that at that time of Jesus, there was no fruit wine even till now, dictionaries don't define wine as fruit wine, it's alcoholic. However, in excess makes it a sin......
ReplyDeleteAbi o @ fruit wine. Thanks babe
DeleteMe agree and over agree with you sef. Moderation! Moderation !! Moderation!!! Why would anyone want to drink to stupor sef, if the person is not immature such that the sight of *free* drinks makes him/her loose control of his/her senses! It's maturity when you know when to stop.
ReplyDeleteAggressive tone? I'm not sorry. Quit it with all these misinterpretation of the Bible people!
"We" love you Eniwealth
DeleteI do agree with you. I also grew up learning that drinking is a sin but all over the scriptures its being drunk or drinking in excess that is considered a sin. There is no need being dogmatic or sentimental or over spiritualise it. we cant be more spiritual than the bible.
ReplyDeleteAbi, thank you
ReplyDeleteRead about Rachebites who abstained from alcohol in old testament scriptures.God blessed them because of that.So we should not force someone who abstains from drinking to drink.
ReplyDeleteDoes it seem like we're mandating anyone to drink? if you do, good for you but in moderation. If you don't, good for you too. It's not a sin Jan zizka
DeleteRead about Rachebites in Old Testament-Bible,who were blessed by God because the abstained from alcohol. So if we force someone who abstain from alcohol to drink we would be doing injustice in the sight of God.
ReplyDeleteRead about Rachebites in Old Testament scriptures. They were blessed by God because they abstained from alcohol.Likewise if we force someone who abstain from alcohol to drink it will be injustice in the sight of God.
ReplyDeleteWho is the baby that is being forced?
DeleteThere is nothing called little drink,as there is nothing called little sin.Alcohol is additive, drunkards didnt become drunkards in a day, they started with a glass.i wil say avoid it altogether, does more harm than good.
ReplyDeleteAnything can be addictive. Cars, fashion, food, internet, sex, spouse, children, coffee,... Would you stop having sex so you wouldn't get addicted to it? That's where having limits and self control comes in.
DeleteThank you :*
