For the love of aso-ebi

So someone messaged me "Hi Anu, you tweeted about aso-ebi the other day. Can you talk about that"? Yes I would talk about it but nobody should take offence o.

What can separate a Nigerian girl from the owambe behaviour. She likes to buy aso-ebi, makes the nicest style and dresses all up especially with the instagram craze. The degree of feferity in each girl however differs. Some of us after buying the materials + gele, would buy matching shoes, purse, jewellery and get an artiste for our makeup and gele. Don't forget we still contribute for the bridal shower and have our "spraying" money handy for the reception. That could cost around 50k besides transport fare, feeding and accommodation for those coming from outside town. Now you know why most people don't get wedding gifts for the couple.
I think aso-ebi is cool and I, like many other ladies, would buy even if we won't attend to show love and to avoid being tagged as haters. It's the season of weddings in my age group. Great, yea? That however comes with loads of aso-ebi which we complain about but we still end up making the same mistakes we complain about when it's our turn. These complaints are usually related to the price and choice of materials. I think it's very silly and inconsiderate to pick materials your guests would not be able to wear again just because it will make your fairytale wedding "fairer" or you want them to look a certain way, that's the definition of selfish. Everyone has something to do with their money, buying your material is an honour to you which you should appreciate and ensure they would not regret getting it. How and where is one supposed to wear aso-oke gele, french lace blouse and short aso-oke wrapper after the ceremony?

I should have been a professional bridesmaid. I've been on so many trains and, would still love to be on one or two more. Sadly i've been able to "rerock" only two of the outfits.
To whoever it may concern: Dear Sister Js, I better be a CBM to one of you. Your lovely baby sister, xoxo.
I'm of the opinion that not only should bridesmaids' dresses be useful in their closets, it should be absolutely free. It's such a big honour to you that one agreed to be on your train, one could decline, you know? In my year 3 in University, a friend was asked to be on a "big girl's" train. The dress was 25k and the very inconsiderate bride asked her to get a particular colour of shoes, purse, jewellery and brazilian hair. I felt offended on my friend's behalf. She had these items at home but I felt it was really funny in an annoying way. If you can't afford to cloth your maids, at least give them something they would love at a reasonable fee and involve them in the style selection. Don't add the money for our meals, drinks and souvenirs to your maids' or aso-ebi packages.
A special shoutout to babes picking 90k aso-ebi and to everyone who has been reading (and commenting). If you have a topic you want me to put up, holla tarabauer01@gmail.com

Forgive me for asking something completely unrelated...
It's about Boko Haram terrorist group. As far as i get from various sources Nigeria is 40% Christian,40% Islamic and 20% Animist/tribal religions.
So is muslim presence in government making it hard for the government to take stern action against these terrorist groups?
They kidnapped about 200 girls and later came to attack villagers who knew about the attack beforehand and killed about 200 Boko Haram terrorists for their self defence and survival,in return the cowardly Boko Haram bombed various Nigerian towns and killed another 200 people, yesterday they attacked government facilities.

So the big question arises what is the Nigerian government doing to protect it's tax paying citizens?
Who has "chained" the hands of government?
If they can't do it themselves, why is the government not asking for international help?
After a long time finally UN has banned Boko Haram as a terorist organisation ,but that won't suffice. The root cause of this terrorist problem is religions that teach hatred and fear rather than love which is the true religion of God.

May God help Nigerian government to take bold and clever actions against these terrorist organizations that cowardly kill innocent civilians.

We're as clueless as you are. The presence of Muslims in government shouldn't stop them from providing adequate security and bringing this sect down. Muslims are not left out in the killings. Muslims worldwide have disassociated themselves from and have condemned the sect. Many think these killings are politically motivated to frustrate the government and take the President's seat back to the north. What ever the motivation is, it's very unfortunate. God help us

The craze for selecting aso-ebi for an occasion in this present day can not be overemphasised. C'mon the craze is high! Talk of train dresses being useless afterwards, well, I believe I've paid my dues, enough of the bridal train craze. I've had enough! I did one sometime ago -after graduation. I was so disappointed with the bride's choice of style when we went for dressing and I saw d oda girls on d train. I changed the style o! And even at that, I've not worn the dress again.

Thanks bae. I just remembered a train I was on. The bride was an Aunty from church. She gave her friends a nice style and gave us a "one style fits all" dress. Sadly we didn't see the dress before that morning, I was utterly ashamed of myself in the dress, I kept hiding from people. I didn't take pictures or attend the reception afterwards
