Are you a spontaneous bad belle?

So yesterday I ran into a lady that's doing something I'll love to do. I've always known her so I didn't see the big deal in asking her how many years it'll take. Infact, it's not too much of a question to ask a stranger. Her response was "have you done "this" that you're thinking of doing "that"? Wait till you get to that stage". I didn't take offence but took the pains to let her know i'll be at that stage next year by God's grace and I've made enquiries at other quarters, was only trying to compare notes. Then she gave an answer. Instead of her to have given me the two words and forget about it. She took it upon herself the responsibility of deciding in her small mind what I should think of and do with my big, strong, african babe loving Jesus mind. Phillipians 4:13. She then thought it wise to let me know that the stage I'm about to start isn't easy. I gave her a "I know" but in my mind I had given her a hot slap and said "if you could do it, I can certainly do better silly". I know she didn't mean it that way. She is just an unconscious spontaneous bad belle. Even a stranger would have encouraged me.
This reminds me of Lamide's pet peeve on The Spot on Wednesday. She spoke about people who always have something negative to say. I can't remember her examples but it's something like, you say "I want to visit Egypt" and the first thing he says is "The death rate there is high o". Or "I've finally been able to save for the car I love" and you get "Maintaining a car is expensive, can you afford the mechanics?" Or you say "I want to go natural" and she goes "ah, natural hair isn't easy to manage. You better keep fixing your weaves jeje". Really, has it gotten to the part where your opinion is needed? Do the people "doing" it have two heads? Are you trying to imply that I'm not good enough? (Ahah, I sound like a drama queen - I'm not in Jesus' name). If you must say anything, weigh the pros and cons and be objective, don't be a sadist. As she was rounding up her talk, a certain Mr Nack on the show went "Maybe they want you to look at the other side". Obviously, this Mr is a natural born kill joy. Why is it that it's the bad side you're drawing my attention to, what happened to the good side? If we look only at the negative side of things, we'll never get anything done.
Nobody is worthy enough to discourage you or kill your joy. The reins of your life is in your hands, handle it well. I'm not saying you shouldn't look into their points but weigh the pros and cons. If that's what you want and you're sure it's the way forward, please go for it! Thanks for reading, hugs and kisses.

Oyinbos call them pessimists or killjoys. Don't bother your pretty head about them. For every killjoy, there are 10 'enthusiastic encouragers' (if that one dey dictionary). By the way congratulations on the blog. You write quite well.

I have someone whose first comments about every new development is usually negative. Even up to the smallest things, " is this the hair you went to do all morning? I knew it won't turn out nice with the way you were really anticipating the look ", " they should have made it a little lower you know " and so on.

“I let that negativity roll off me like water off a duck’s back. That’s my gift. If it’s not positive, I didn’t hear it. If you can overcome that, fights are easy.” – George Foreman

I love your spirit, Anu. I wish everyone was like you. You (we) can't imagine the number of dreams that have been killed that way.

It's either she feels superhuman and really thinks you can't do it (small mind)...or she's afraid you can do it better and deemed it fit to discourage you now (smaller mind). Whichever it is, I'm excited to tell you "Congrats!" You can do it and do it bigger. You've got smaller minds as competition. Keep us posted as to how it goes.

God bless you in all your endeavours. Thanks for sharing :)
